In Practice: Work by Duke Arts Faculty
Power Plant Gallery
October 4 – December 13, 2013
Opening Reception, Friday, October 25, 4-6pm

The Power Plant Gallery at American Tobacco Campus is pleased to present In Practice: Work by Duke Arts Faculty, opening on October 4.  The exhibition features work by eighteen Duke faculty members and instructors from three arts units at the University: The Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies (AAHVS), The Center for Documentary Studies (CDS), and The Program in the Arts of the Moving Image (AMI).  The exhibition provides a lens through which to visualize the remarkably interdisciplinary nature of the arts at Duke, as well as the dynamic and diverse energy of the Triangle art-scene––both central to the growth of engagement with the arts at the University over the past decade.  Employing a wide range of media––from photography to film and video, printmaking to new media––the works in In Practice reveal the engaging duality of Duke faculty as both artists and mentors, researchers and makers, on campus and beyond.
